Overview
Effective August 1, 2023, a commissioned Delaware notary may request the ability to perform notarial acts by remote or electronic means in the Notary Profile. Acts must use approved technology providers. The notary must be in Delaware; the signer need not be.
Use this page as a checklist of where to go and what to complete. Follow the Notary Department’s current instructions if anything here differs from the official site.

To be commissioned as a Delaware notary public, you must meet all of the following:

Start Here: Delaware Notary Public
Create or use a Notary Profile on notary.delaware.gov. Remote and electronic privileges are requested later from that profile, not as a first-time paper form.

Part 1: Traditional Delaware Notary Commission
Skip this section if you already hold an unexpired traditional Delaware notary commission. You cannot request remote privileges until this is in place.

Submit the traditional application Apply online. The Fee Information page lists a non-refundable $60 fee for a new traditional commission (2-year term only). Renewals are $60 (2-year) or $90 (4-year). |

Receive your commission Follow the Notary Department’s instructions to download or receive the commission certificate and obtain a seal that meets Delaware law. |
Part 2: Online (RON) Commission
Complete this only after your traditional commission is active. Request remote or electronic privileges in your Notary Profile and use an approved technology provider.

After You Are Commissioned

Renew the traditional commission in the Notary Profile (eligible when expired or within 30 days of expiration). Remote privileges depend on an active traditional commission.
